About Us

Long Animal Wellness started after hearing many requests for in-home veterinary care — from owners with busy schedules, owners that had trouble getting their animal to the veterinary clinic, moms taking care of pets and children (like me!), and many more. When practicing in a clinic setting, we also saw a need for in-home care due to many animals either feeling anxious or fearful in the clinic, animals with mobility issues making it hard to travel, or animals with complex medical problems that needed extra attention.

Our goal is to provide quality and comprehensive care within your home that is tailored to your needs and your pet’s needs. We aim to do this by allotting for longer examination times than most traditional veterinary clinics so that we can go slow with your pet when needed, ensure that all of your questions are answered, and the best plan of care if made for your pet. We also offer telemedicine appointments for more flexible follow up opportunities.

Long Animal Wellness is named after our lead veterinarian, Bailey Long. However, this is also intended to be a play on words as we deeply value the “long”-term health of your pet over simply providing vaccines. Additionally, “Wellness” was used in our name instead of “Veterinary Care” to communicate that we deeply care about your pet’s well-being beyond the traditional medicine side of their care. This means we consider not only your pet’s medical conditions and medication needs, but also factors such as diet, weight, mobility, and emotional or behavioral health. Our goal is to ensure your pet’s overall well-being is addressed comprehensively throughout their veterinary care.

Meet the Team

  • Bailey Long, DVM

    Veterinarian, Fear Free Certified

Dr. Bailey Long grew up in a military family and moved more than 23 times before settling in Sumter, South Carolina, where she completed high school. After graduating, she attended Clemson University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Science. Dr. Long then moved to Auburn, Alabama, where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 2022.

During her time at Auburn University, Dr. Long was actively involved in the Christian Veterinary Fellowship and served as president during her second year of veterinary school. She and her husband deeply enjoyed being members of their local Auburn church.

Dr. Long became a veterinarian to love and serve people, following Christ’s example, by caring for their beloved pets and honoring God’s creation through thoughtful, high-quality veterinary care. She values building strong relationships with pet owners and creating individualized care plans tailored to each family’s needs. She also has a special interest in working with fearful animals and helping them feel more comfortable in both clinic and home settings.

Dr. Long met her husband, Adam, during their final year at Clemson University. They married while she was in veterinary school and later moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where Adam is from. They have one son, a new baby on the way, an English Labrador named Perrin, and a mischievous cat named Andee.

  • Adam

    Manager

Adam Long was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. Growing up, he enjoyed playing sports such as baseball and basketball but found his true passion in playing the piano.

Adam attended Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He met Dr. Bailey Long during their final year at Clemson and later followed her to Auburn, Alabama when she began veterinary school, after securing his first job and an apartment nearby.

Professionally, Adam works in the aerospace industry, where he serves as a liaison between airlines and his company to help resolve issues involving aircraft engine components. He also plays an integral role at Long Animal Wellness as Practice Manager, handling administrative and operational needs.

In his free time, you will most commonly find Adam playing on the floor with his son, but Adam also enjoys home renovation projects, playing church basketball, and playing the piano. As a family, Adam and Dr. Long enjoy being outside and taking long walks through the neighborhood or on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Adam regularly volunteers at his church by helping set up fellowship events and playing piano during worship services.
